Krzysztof Putra 1957 – 2010
Biography
Krzysztof Putra was a prominent Polish politician whose career embodied the nation’s post-Cold War transformation. Rising through Poland’s complex political landscape, Putra became known for his work advocating for his constituents and shaping regional policy in northeastern Poland. His voice carried weight in Warsaw’s corridors of power, where he fought for the interests of the Podlaskie Voivodeship throughout his political tenure.
On April 10, 2010, Putra’s life was cut short in the tragic Smolensk air disaster, an event that shook Poland to its core. The crash, which claimed numerous political and military figures, robbed the nation of one of its dedicated public servants. Putra was laid to rest in Białystok, his home region, where his legacy as a committed politician and advocate for eastern Poland endures in the memory of those he represented.
