Bertil Malmberg 1889 – 1958
Biography
Bertil Malmberg was born on August 13, 1889, in Härnösands domkyrkoförsamling, a parish in northern Sweden. Over the course of his life, he developed a dual career as both an actor and a poet, contributing to Swedish cultural life during the early twentieth century. His work in these creative fields left an impression on those who knew his performances and read his verse.
Malmberg spent much of his adult life engaged in theatrical and literary pursuits. His dedication to the arts reflected the creative spirit of his era, and he remained active in his professions throughout his lifetime. He eventually settled in the Stockholm area, making his home in the Lidingö parish community.
On February 11, 1958, Malmberg passed away in Lidingö Parish at the age of 68. He was laid to rest at Lidingö kyrkogård, the cemetery in Lidingö Municipality, where his memory is preserved. Though details of his final years remain modest in the historical record, Malmberg’s contributions as an artist—both on stage and through verse—remain part of Sweden’s cultural heritage.
