Antonio Draghi was born on January 17, 1634, in the Italian city of Rimini, during a period of remarkable musical innovation across Europe. He dedicated his life to the art of composition, contributing to the rich musical traditions of the seventeenth century. Though details of his personal life remain sparse, Draghi spent much of his later life in Vienna, one of Europe’s most vibrant musical centers. There he continued his work as a composer until his death on January 16, 1700—just one day short of his sixty-sixth birthday.
