Alexander Trepov 1862 – 1928
Biography
Alexander Trepov was born on September 30, 1862, in Kyiv, during a pivotal period in Russian history. His life spanned the transformative decades of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a time of significant political change throughout the Russian Empire. He would go on to hold one of the highest offices in the Russian government, serving as Prime Minister and playing an important role in the nation’s governance during a consequential era.
Following the dramatic upheavals of the Russian Revolution and the civil war that reshaped his homeland, Trepov eventually found himself living in exile in Nice, France. This Mediterranean city became his final home, where he spent his later years away from the Russia he had once served in high office. On November 10, 1928, at the age of sixty-five, he passed away in Nice.
Trepov was laid to rest at the Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Nice, alongside other members of the Russian émigré community. His burial there reflects the diaspora of Russian society following the revolution, and the cemetery itself stands as a testament to the lives of those who left Russia during that turbulent period. His memory endures as part of that complex historical legacy.
