Biography
Alix, Duchess of Brittany, was born on September 12, 1200, in Brittany during a time of significant political change in medieval France. She inherited the duchy at a young age and held the title of Hereditary Duchess of Brittany from 1203 until her untimely death in 1221. Though her life was brief, Alix carried the weight of her noble position and the responsibilities that came with governing one of France’s most important regions.

She was laid to rest at the Abbaye de Notre-Dame de Villeneuve-lez-Nantes in Le Bignon, Loire-Atlantique, where her memory remains honored among the noble lineage of Brittany. Her legacy endures through the historical record of her family and her role as duchess during a formative period in regional history.
