Bob Newhart revolutionized stand-up comedy with his deadpan delivery and absurdist telephone routines that had audiences in stitches. The Oak Park, Illinois native became a comedy institution, translating his distinctive comedic voice seamlessly from nightclub stages to television and film, where he entertained generations with his razor-sharp wit and unflappable timing.

His versatility kept him relevant across decades—whether crafting hilarious one-sided phone conversations or bringing dry humor to dramatic roles, Newhart proved he was far more than a joke-teller.
