Constantin Fehrenbach 1852 – 1926

Biography

Constantin Fehrenbach carved his legacy as a devoted German politician during one of Europe’s most turbulent eras. Born in 1852 in the small Baden-Württemberg town of Wellendingen, he spent nearly seven decades navigating the seismic shifts that reshaped Germany—from imperial expansion through war and into the volatile Weimar years. His career embodied the commitment of a public servant determined to champion his constituents’ interests through decades of profound political upheaval.

Fehrenbach’s life traced the arc of modern Germany itself, spanning nearly three-quarters of a century of radical transformation. He remained rooted in civic engagement long after many of his contemporaries had faded from public view, representing a continuity of political dedication through multiple regimes and constitutions. When he passed away in Freiburg in 1926, he left behind a career defined by steady advocacy for those he represented, a testament to old-school political commitment in turbulent times.
