Daniele Manin was born on May 13, 1804, in Venice, a city whose independence and identity would define his life’s work. Growing up in this historic maritime republic, he witnessed the complex political currents of early nineteenth-century Italy and developed a deep commitment to his homeland’s future. His formative years in Venice instilled in him a passion for civic engagement and the principles of self-governance that would guide his career.

Throughout his life, Manin devoted himself to Italian political affairs, becoming a prominent voice in the struggles of his era. His dedication to his country’s cause earned him recognition as a significant figure in the political landscape of the time.
