Biography

Guillermo Fernández Vara was born on October 6, 1958, in Olivenza, a town in the province of Badajoz, Spain. He devoted much of his life to public service as a politician, working to represent and serve his community throughout his career. His roots in Olivenza remained central to his identity, connecting him deeply to the region and its people.

On October 5, 2025, just one day before what would have been his 67th birthday, Guillermo passed away in Badajoz following a battle with stomach cancer. His death marked the end of a life spent in pursuit of civic engagement and political service. In keeping with his lifelong connection to his hometown, he was laid to rest in Olivenza, where his legacy continues to be remembered by those he served and the community he called home.
