Hasse Jeppson 1925 – 2013
Biography
Hasse Jeppson was a Swedish football legend who captured the nation’s heart during the golden age of mid-twentieth century sport. The Kungsbacka native devoted his life to the beautiful game, becoming one of Sweden’s most notable athletic figures and leaving an indelible mark on everyone who witnessed his career unfold across Europe’s most prestigious stages.
What set Jeppson apart was his ability to transcend the typical athlete narrative—his passion for football became a defining cultural touchstone in Swedish sports history. Though his professional ambitions eventually carried him across continents, all the way to Rome, he never lost sight of his humble coastal roots, maintaining deep ties to his Swedish heritage throughout a life lived in the international spotlight.
When Jeppson passed away in Rome on February 21, 2013, it marked the end of an era. Yet his legacy lives on most poignantly at Kungsbacka old cemetery, where he was laid to rest in the very town that birthed his dream—a fitting homecoming for a man whose heart always belonged to Sweden.
