Ivar Eriksson 1909 – 1997

Biography

Ivar Eriksson was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1909, in the small parish of Ovansjö församling in Sweden. He would go on to become a footballer, dedicating much of his life to the sport during an era when Swedish football was developing its distinctive character and gaining recognition across Europe. His athletic pursuits reflected the spirit of his generation, contributing to Sweden’s growing presence in international sports.

Ivar spent his later years in Sandviken, where he would ultimately settle. On April 12, 1997, at the age of 87, he passed away in the town he had come to call home. His long life spanned nearly a century of Swedish history, from the early years of the twentieth century through the close of the modern age. Following his death, Ivar was laid to rest at Sandviken south cemetery, where he remains among his community in Sandviken Municipality, a fitting final resting place for a man who had become part of the town’s fabric.
