Biography

Jérôme-Adolphe Blanqui was born on November 21, 1798, in Nice, a city in the south of France. During his lifetime, he established himself as a thoughtful observer and analyst of economic matters, contributing to the intellectual currents of nineteenth-century France during a period of significant social and industrial change.

Throughout his career, Blanqui devoted himself to economic study and analysis, seeking to understand the forces shaping French society and commerce. His work reflected the intellectual engagement characteristic of his era, when economists were grappling with questions of trade, production, and national prosperity.

Blanqui spent much of his professional life in Paris, the center of French intellectual and political life. He died on January 29, 1854, in the former 8th arrondissement of the capital. His contributions to economic thought were recognized through his burial at Montparnasse Cemetery, one of Paris’s most distinguished final resting places, where many notable French figures were interred. His legacy remains part of the broader tradition of French economic scholarship.
