Jima of Silla 134
Biography
Jima of Silla reigned as King of the Korean Silla kingdom during the early second century, serving from 112 until his death in 134. His tenure as ruler spanned twenty-two years during a formative period in the history of this ancient Korean dynasty. Though specific details of his life and accomplishments have not been preserved through the centuries, his legacy remains part of the historical record of Silla’s development as a regional power on the Korean peninsula.
King Jima passed away on January 1, 134, though the exact location of his death has been lost to history. His final resting place was established in Gyeongju, in what is now North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea—a city that served as the capital of Silla and the burial site for many of the kingdom’s royal lineage. His interment there reflects his significance as a member of Silla’s ruling house and his place within the dynasty’s succession.
