Karl Hermann Frank 1898 – 1946
Biography
Karl Hermann Frank rose to political prominence in interwar Czechoslovakia as a controversial figure straddling two worlds—first as a Czechoslovak parliamentarian, then as an increasingly influential German politician. His career trajectory took a dark turn as he climbed Nazi ranks, securing positions in the Sudeten German Party and ultimately the NSDAP, where he wielded power as a Member of the Reichstag during the Third Reich’s most devastating years.
During World War II, Frank became synonymous with Nazi brutality, earning infamy as a perpetrator of Holocaust atrocities and war crimes that left an indelible stain on history. His postwar reckoning came swiftly: in May 1946, just months after Nazi Germany’s collapse, Frank faced justice through execution by hanging in Prague. His legacy remains defined entirely by the horror he enabled and orchestrated—a cautionary chapter in Europe’s darkest period.
