Biography
The man in the dark sunglasses and high collar didn’t just design clothes—he reinvented fashion itself. Karl Lagerfeld’s meteoric rise from Hamburg to the pinnacle of global style made him a titan whose creative fingerprints touched everything from haute couture runways to pop culture itself. His decades-long career was defined by an relentless pursuit of innovation and an almost supernatural ability to anticipate what the world wanted to wear before anyone else knew they wanted it.
On February 19, 2019, the fashion world lost its most iconic visionary when Lagerfeld died at 85 from pancreatic cancer. His passing in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, marked the end of an era—one shaped by his uncompromising artistic vision, his wit, and his refusal to accept convention. Though he’s laid to rest in Nanterre, Lagerfeld’s influence remains alive in every sketch, every silhouette, and every designer he inspired.
