Khadija bint Khuwaylid

Biography

Before she became history’s most revered woman of faith, Khadija bint Khuwaylid was a trailblazer in her own right—a shrewd businesswoman navigating seventh-century Mecca when few women wielded such influence. Born in 557, she built her reputation on intelligence and integrity long before her name became synonymous with unwavering devotion. When she married Prophet Muhammad, she didn’t fade into the background; she became his anchor, his first believer, and the catalyst who validated his spiritual vision when the world doubted.

Khadija’s true cultural earthquake came at Islam’s birth. She was the first to embrace the faith with absolute conviction, lending her credibility and courage to a movement that would transform civilization. Her belief wasn’t passive—it was the bedrock upon which everything else was built. For sixty-two years, she lived fully in Mecca, witnessing and shaping spiritual upheaval that rippled across centuries.

When she died on January 1, 619, the world lost a woman whose legacy transcended a single lifetime. Buried in Jannat al-Mu’alla, Khadija’s influence didn’t stop at the grave—it multiplied through generations, a testament to faith, fortitude, and one remarkable life that changed everything.
