Peter Grant 1935 – 1995

Biography

A visionary force behind some of rock’s biggest names, Peter Grant revolutionized artist management with an iron grip and shrewd business mind. The London-born impresario built an empire managing talent through decades of industry upheaval, earning respect—and occasional fear—for his fierce advocacy of his clients’ interests. Grant’s reputation as a powerhouse negotiator transformed how artists wielded power in the boardroom, proving that management could be just as crucial to stardom as talent itself.

Grant’s decades-long career showcased his remarkable ability to develop artists and navigate the notoriously cutthroat music business. His professional relationships and business instincts became the stuff of industry legend, shaping careers and setting standards for management excellence that rippled through generations. He remained a fixture in the business world, constantly adapting to an ever-changing landscape while maintaining his signature intensity.

The music world lost a titan when Grant died of heart failure on November 21, 1995, at age 60. Yet his legacy endures through the artists he championed and the management blueprint he created—a reminder that behind every superstar often stands a fearless operator willing to fight for their vision.
