Raúl Ruiz emerged from Chile’s windswept southern coast to become one of world cinema’s most audacious visionaries. Born in Puerto Montt in 1941, this restless auteur spent decades crafting a body of work that defied convention, eventually establishing himself as a filmmaker of singular imagination and unwavering artistic conviction. His career took him across continents, but it was Paris where Ruiz would ultimately make his mark, transforming the French capital into his creative headquarters.

A true cinematic nomad with a relentless creative drive, Ruiz spent his later years in the City of Light, cementing his status as a filmmaker whose work transcended borders and challenged audiences.
