Biography

V. Volodarsky was a Russian revolutionary who lived during one of the most turbulent periods in his nation’s history. Born on December 11, 1891, in Staryi Ostropil, he came of age during the final decades of the Russian Empire, a time marked by growing political unrest and calls for fundamental change.

Volodarsky devoted himself to revolutionary ideals and activism during the transformative years following the Russian Revolution. He remained engaged in political work in Saint Petersburg, the capital city that had become the epicenter of revolutionary activity and governance. His commitment to the cause, however, came at great personal cost.

On June 20, 1918, Volodarsky’s life was cut short by an act of violence in Saint Petersburg. He was killed in an attempted murder, a tragic end that reflected the intense political conflicts and dangers that revolutionaries faced during this period. His remains were laid to rest at the Field of Mars in Saint Petersburg, a burial ground that honored those who gave their lives during Russia’s revolutionary struggle.
