Volin 1882 – 1945
Biography
Born into tsarist Russia’s turbulent landscape, Volin emerged as a tireless voice for anarchist ideals, dedicating his life to dismantling systems of oppression and championing social justice. His decades-long activism made him a defining figure in the anarchist movement—a man whose convictions never wavered despite the political upheaval and exile that defined his era.
Volin’s journey carried him across continents, ultimately landing in Paris, where he spent his final years continuing his work for a more equitable world. The City of Light became his sanctuary and his stage until tuberculosis claimed him in September 1945 at age 62. His ashes rest in Père-Lachaise’s columbarium, a monument to a life spent in service of freedom and radical change.
