Biography

Vladimir Dmitrievich Nabokov was born on July 20, 1869, in Pushkin, Russia. He dedicated his life to public service as a Russian politician, working during a transformative period in his nation’s history. His career reflected the complexities of political life in late imperial and early Soviet Russia, a time of unprecedented change and challenge.

In 1922, Nabokov’s life was cut tragically short when he died on March 28 in Berlin at the age of 52. He was killed by gunshot wound, a loss that marked the end of a significant chapter in Russian political history. Like many Russian émigrés of his era, he had sought refuge in Berlin during the tumultuous years following the Russian Revolution.

Nabokov was laid to rest at the Berlin-Tegel Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Reinickendorf, Germany, where he remains among the Russian community that had fled to Western Europe. His burial place reflects the diaspora experience of countless Russians who found themselves displaced during this turbulent period. Though his life was brief, his legacy endures as part of the broader story of Russian political figures whose work shaped their nation’s history.
